Common Questions
My concentrator is alarming or showing a yellow light. What do I do?
A yellow alarm means low oxygen flow. Make sure there’s at least one foot of open space behind the concentrator and the filters are clean. Disconnect the tubing completely, since there may be a crack or kink you can’t see.
Turn the concentrator off and unplug it. Wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, press reset, and turn it on. Let it run for 10 minutes. If it doesn’t go back to green, call us at 906-341-1116 and one of our technicians will bring you a replacement concentrator.
My concentrator is alarming or showing a red light.
Call us at 906-341-1116. A red light usually means an issue we can’t fix in your home, so a technician will bring you a replacement concentrator.
How often should I change my cannula and tubing?
For cannulas used 24/7, change them every two weeks. Replace tubing every 3 to 6 months. No cleaning is needed, but check for cracks and kinks, and throw out cannulas if you’ve had a respiratory infection.
How often do I need to see my doctor if I’m on oxygen?
Insurance requires a face-to-face visit (not telemedicine) once a year after your initial setup to discuss your continued use. Every 5 years, you’ll also need new saturation testing to show continued need. For UPHP, Medicaid And UPHP Medicare Advantage plans after initial set up your insurance also requires testing 6 months later.
I use a CPAP. What are the insurance rules?
See our CPAP Compliance page for the full breakdown on compliance downloads, resupply schedules, and cleaning.
